Embargo Dates for Over-Dimensional Loads
When a big event is taking place in South Africa (such as the 2010 Fifa Soccer World Cup) or the schools have just closed for school holidays, it is anticipated that there will be additional travellers on the national roads. Every year the National Department of Roads and Provincial Administration publishes a calendar of proposed embargo dates for the country for the ensuing year, where certain abnormal out-of-gauge cargo/ loads may not be transported unless special permission is received, or if said loads need to be relocated due to national interest, be it civil or military.
